Mesothelioma can develop in the lining of the lungs, abdomen, heart, or testicles 10-50 years after initial asbestos exposure. It is an aggressive cancer, but treatment options continue to extend and improve quality of life. Learn about the two main types of mesothelioma here.
Pleural Mesothelioma forms in the lining surrounding the lungs or chest. It is the most common type of mesothelioma, accounting for 75% of all diagnoses.
Peritoneal Mesothelioma forms in the abdominal lining known as the peritoneum. It accounts for around 25% of diagnoses and has the highest rate of successful treatment.
