The Mesothelioma Veterans Center has fellow veterans, VA-accredited attorneys, registered nurses, and patient advocates on staff. Every member of our team has worked for years if not decades to support U.S. veterans and families impacted by a mesothelioma diagnosis.
Major Jonathan Nelson is a VA-accredited attorney who serves as our lead veterans liaison, helping veterans with mesothelioma access VA benefits and other resources. He also reviews our veterans-related content to make sure it is authoritative and trustworthy.
Major Nelson spent 15 years as a U.S. Marine Corps attorney, serving in Iraq and Kuwait during the Global War on Terrorism. He also has a personal connection to mesothelioma, as his wife’s grandfather, a World War II veteran, passed away from it.

Corporal Michael Stewart served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1984 to 1988, retiring as a noncommissioned officer (NCO).

The Mesothelioma Veterans Center has earned the trust of 3,800 U.S. veterans and families to date. A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, even for the toughest U.S. veterans. We're here to lighten their load in any way we can.
Following his advanced mesothelioma diagnosis, we helped U.S. Navy veteran Walter Tidwell secure a $40.1 million payout to cover his health care expenses. “They were prepared and they could go back to day 1,” he said.
Diagnosed while he was still working, U.S. Army veteran Alan Bonnin secured a significant payout to protect his family. “We would’ve been lost without them coming to our help,” his wife said.
